This is a recipe of my Grandma's that my Mom made for me after I had one our babies...I had to get the recipe! -Kristin
1 -1 1/2# round steak, cut into strips
3 t. oil
1 1/2 c. onions, diced
2 T. flour
1 can diced tomatoes, add enough water with the tomatoes to make a 2 c. measure
6 oz. tomato paste
1 T. sugar
1 1/2 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
1 t. Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 t. seasoning salt
3/4 c. sour cream
1 1/4 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. sour cream

1 1/4 c. flour

- Fry beef and onions in oil until browned.
- Sprinkle with flour.
- Then stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and seasoning salt.
- Cover and simmer 2 hours; stirring occasionally.
- Stir in sour cream.
- Place in 9x13 casserole dish and set aside.
- In bowl mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
- Then cut in shortening.
- Add the sour cream.
- Roll dough into 1/2 inch thick and cut into circle shape for biscuits.
- Place sour cream puffs on top of meat mixture.
- Bake 425 for 20-25 minutes.
An option to this is to omit the sour cream biscuits and serve over egg noodles. We like it a lot that way too.
