Gas House Lasagna


This is such good lasagna! The recipe has a funny name because my Mom found it in a cookbook from a fundraiser for the fire department. It's the recipe I grew up eating and the one I make for my family now. -Sarah

1 pound Italian sausage
1 t. basil
1 t. oregano
1 garlic clove, minced
1 T. parsley flakes
1 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
2, 14 1/2 oz. can diced tomatoes
1, 6 oz. can tomato paste
12 lasagna noodles

24 oz. cottage cheese
2 eggs, beaten
1 t. salt
1/2 t. pepper
1 t. parsley flakes
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

1 pound mozzarella, thinly sliced

  • Brown and drain sausage. Add remaining sauce ingredients. Simmer 30-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Cook noodles, drain and rinse in cold water.
  • Combine cottage cheese ingredients in a bowl.
  • Layer in a greased 9x13 pan: 1/2 noodles, 1/2 cottage cheese mixture, 1/2 mozzarella, 1/2 sauce.
  • Repeat.
  • Bake at 375 degrees 45 minutes.
