The Best Homemade Macaroni and Cheese...Ever!


I mean it, this is the best homemade macaroni and cheese recipe...ever! Sarah and I have experimented with a lot of recipes to come to that conclusion...now we don't mess around, when we want mac n' cheese- it's gotta be this stuff! -Kristin

1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
1 t. salt
2 c. milk
1/4# Velveeta, cubed
8 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded
2 c. elbow macaroni
2 T. seasoned bread crumbs

  • Cook pasta.
  • Melt 3 T. butter in pan.
  • Blend into butter flour and salt. Stir 1 minute.
  • Gradually add milk and cook until thickened.
  • Add cheese and stir till melted.
  • Mix in the pasta.
  • Place into greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
  • Melt remaining 1 T. butter and toss with the bread crumbs.
  • Sprinkle the bread crumb mixture over top.
  • Bake 350 for 20 minutes.
***This is the original recipe.   Most of the time I use 2 1/2 cups of pasta it is still so creamy.
