Heath Bar Cake

When Kristin and I worked at Right to Life together we went to our boss's house for a Christmas dinner. This was the dessert his sweet wife served us, she was a fantastic cook and baker! This has been a favorite cake wherever it's brought! -Sarah

Cake:
1 box white cake mix
1 small box instant chocolate pudding mix
2 cups milk
4 egg whites, beaten to soft peaks

Topping:
4 egg yolks
1 cup sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
1 stick butter

8 oz. container Cool Whip
Heath Bars

  • Mix dry cake mix and dry pudding mix together. Gradually add the milk and beat about 2 minutes. Fold in beaten egg whites.
  • Bake in a greased and floured 9x13 pan, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • In a saucepan add egg yolks, sugar and evaporated milk. Cook and stir till thickened (have patience, it takes awhile, but it will thicken up!)
  • Remove from heat and stir in butter till dissolved.
  • Cool cake and topping. Spread topping over cake. Refrigerate.
  • When completely cold, spread with Cool Whip.
  • Just before serving top with crushed Heath Bars. (If you aren't going to be eating the whole thing then only put the Heath Bars on the pieces served, the Heath gets mushy if left on the cake)
