I got this recipe from a Taste of Home magazine years ago and it is still our favorite chocolate cake recipe! -Kristin
3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/3 c. baking cocoa
1 t. salt
2 t. baking soda
2 c. water
3/4 c. vegetable oil
2 t. vanilla
2 t. vinegar
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. butter, softened
2 c. powdered sugar
1/3 c. baking cocoa
dash of salt
3 T. milk
1/2 t. vanilla
3 c. flour

2 c. powdered sugar

1/2 t. vanilla
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
- Then mix in the water, oil, vanilla and vinegar. The batter will be thin.
- Pour into greased 9x13 pan and bake 350 for 40-45 minutes; or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
- Cool cake completely.
- To make frosting, in a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter. Add the powdered sugar, cocoa, salt, milk and vanilla; mix well.
- Spread frosting over cooled cake.
