Cranberry Bread


My Mother-In-Law, Gail, brought this to our house one Christmas Eve, I loved the flavor so much and was so happy that she left the rest with us! This is a really unique recipe that makes a moist deliciously flavored bread! -Sarah

1/2 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 cup buttermilk
3 1/2 cups flour
2 t. baking soda
1 1/2 t. salt
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
zest of 1 orange
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce

  • Cream butter till fluffy. Stir in brown sugar, egg and buttermilk.
  • Beat in flour, baking soda, salt and spices. Fold in zest, and cranberry sauce.
  • Pour into greased and floured loaf pans.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes. (makes 2 loaves)
